Application Download Page...Welcome to this application testing/download page...

All of these apps will be released (if not already) at:
AUTOMAGIC (Sourceforge)
On to this app - This is called "2DVD - Two DVD creation tools for Linux".
It should work under any Linux, for any user having read/write privileges to the DVD burner/reader drive(s), however the automated installation of neccessary components (to be run once before first use by the root user) will only work on Debian-based systems. Others will need to install the packages manually.
You should already have Python installed, but you will need to (most likely) go to CNR and get the tiny package "python-tk" to run this. For Debian, use apt-get install python-tk
Changelog: Version 0.7
Version 0.7 is supplied by the link, as of 9PM (EST) 2 July 2006
- no known issues, has been tested, typos removed, etc., by myself the past week.
It has only been tested on one Debian system, and due to the time-consuming nature of some processes, it has not been tested with an extensive variety of media, just enough to prove "beta" functionality. Report back any issues you may have.
This app will backup a commercial DVD (or any other) to another blank DVD. The resultant DVD should play on any commercial DVD player. Using the installation sequence, all needed packages will be auto-installed (for Debian systems) before your first use (you need to be root to install). You may also create a DVD from avi / mpg files you may have on your hard drives. This can be either a single-part or multi-part burn. For example if you have 2 avi files which together make a full movie, you can add both of these and they will play seamlessly. You can also create a DVD with several small videos back-to-back. There will be no menus or special features. Only the main title will be included, and components will play back-to-back in succession without a gap.
All components must be installed prior to first use. Linspire users, get transcode mjpegtools dvdauthor and unrar from CNR before doing anything else. For Debian & Linspire systems, use the "Set installation sources" menu to add both the "stable" and "Marillat" lines to your sources.list. Afterwards, edit the sources.list and remove any duplicate lines. Then run all items under "Install needed components". Linspire users, skip "2 Install Debian components", but DO run the next step "libdvdcss2 / newer libc6" before step 3 (install streamdvd). For non-Debian distros, you will need the following packages (install them manually): mkisofs mjpegtools dvd+rw-tools libdvdread3 libdvdcss2 transcode dvdauthor streamdvd and unrar.

Download 2dvd.py (right-click and "save target as"). When you have it, it must be copied into /usr/local/bin
2dvd.py
Download 2DVD.desktop (this is the desktop icon to run the app), be sure to put it in your /root or /user/Desktop folder, and you should have a clickable desktop icon to start the app.
2DVD.desktop
To run from the command line, without the icon, type this in a console:
python /usr/local/bin/2dvd.py
Good luck with it, more apps and content to be added soon.
