Application Download Page...Welcome to this application testing/download page...
This being a pre-release test site, I am targeting a limited audience for now, mostly people I know from the forums, and I wouldn't broadcast this URL.
On to this app - This is called "Package Aide" for Debian. This will only work on any Debian-based distros, you should already have Python installed, but you will need to (most likely) go to CNR and get the tiny package "python-tk" to run this.
For Debian, use apt-get install python-tk
It also requires the Konqueror File manager/browser. If you use KDE, this should already be there (i.e. Linspire, etc.)
Changelog: Version 0.5
Version 0.5 is supplied by the link, as of 7PM (EST) 20 June 2006
- no known issues, has been heavily tested, typos removed, etc., by myself the past week.
This app has similar functionality to many of the functions in Synaptic,
adding several unique tools and features, and can be run from a desktop icon.
It has a very user-friendly interface and also focuses on manually downloading .debs
There are a lot of "one-click" button tools and reference functions,
also a quick "pinning" method for installed apps.
All functions, including connecting to outside sites, are launched from the interface.
This app must be run as root, as it is a heavy sysadmin/sysconfig-type app.

Download pkgaide.py (right-click and "save target as"). When you have it, it must be copied into /usr/local/bin.
pkgaide.py
Download PKG-AIDE.desktop (this is the desktop icon to run the app), be sure to put it in your /root/Desktop folder, and you should have a clickable desktop icon to start the app.
PKG-AIDE.desktop
To run from the command line, without the icon, type this in a console:
python /usr/local/bin/pkgaide.py
Good luck with it, more apps and content to be added soon.
