The Chattanooga (Southern Railway ) station saw its last passenger train in 1970,
but became a hotel in 1973. Besides rooms in the buildings themselves, there are rooms in
quite a few Victorian-era passenger cars on the tracks. There's also a short electric
trolley line which shuttles around the grounds using a 1924 ex-New Orleans car.
These were taken in the summer of 1988.
Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN, uses narrow gauge Baldwins for its amusement-park-type
steam train runs (September, 1988). These engines ran on the White Pass & Yukon
in Alaska. Engine 70 (shown here) was built in 1938, and the park's other engine,
Number 192 was built in 1943, both in Philadelphia. The first 5 are from the summer of 1988.
