Northeast Pennsylvania Fall Views - 2011 - Part III
These are from a driving tour on Sunday, October 23, 2011, around the Wilkes-Barre, PA area.
I tried to photograph a variety of scenes to give a feel for the area (old and new) at this time.
The final 5 photos were taken on Sunday morning, 10/30/11, after our pre-Halloween snow.
The Holy Assumption of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church on N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre,
at the very north end of town between Elm and Chestnut Streets.
Three views of the new 8th Street Bridge linking Jenkins Township and Wyoming, PA. The day before these photos
were taken, one remaining span of the half-demolished 111 year-old former bridge fell into the river all by itself.
Old mill buildings in Miners Mills, PA, (south side) from West Miller & Sidney Streets.
North side of same buildings taken from Mill St., a sign on one building says "Carbon Sales".
Looking east onto East Main St. from N. Washington St., Miners Mills, PA.
Marine Corps League building, Miners Mills, along E. Main St. near Mayock St.
Old "Flying A" gas station sign at Scott and Stucker Sts., Parsons, PA.
Old East End Firehouse, Wilkes-Barre, along Scott St. near Mundy St.
Another photo along Scott Street from the same location.
Coming down the hill, Northampton and Lehigh Sts., Georgetown section of Wilkes-Barre Township.
Along E. South St., Wilkes-Barre, just west of S Meade St.
Looking east on Dana St. at Noble Lane, Wilkes-Barre.
Both the spooky and the more traditional fall decorations, E. South St near S. Grant St., Wilkes-Barre.
South Street Bridge entrance at Park St., Wilkes-Barre.
The old 1898 Keller building that commands the east side of the South St. Bridge at Park St.
Another perspective of the same intersection.
View of downtown Wilkes-Barre from the South Street Bridge.
And finally, 5 photos at home and on our street, taken on sunny Sunday morning 10/30/11,
a day after our surprise pre-Halloween snowstorm. It's already warmed up a bit and is melting.
