Port Jervis, NY - Summer, 2011 - Part I
These were all taken on July 7, 2011, in Port Jervis, New York.
West of town, and to the west of the passenger boarding area, we see NJ Transit #4104 (GP40PH-2)
waiting for its next eastbound run in the mid-afternoon (looking east).
Here's Metro North #4901 (GP40FH-2) alone on a side track.
Looking west to the end of the facility area, where NS/NYS&W freight-only
shared trackage continues to Binghamton and beyond.
Two more views of the 4104...
...and the east end of the push-pull train which will later depart with the remote cab at the head end.
Just north of the through tracks, we see the old historic Erie turntable
with a few of its tracks fanning out radially...the roundhouse building long gone.
A bit to the west of the turntable are three red passenger cars,
the "Crescent", an NYGL Diner and another NYGL car.
Abutting the west side of the turntable are two more NYGL cars.
More detailed shots of the turntable pit, with restored ex-Erie E8 #833
proudly sitting in the position of honor...
...and a couple close-ups of the 833.
