Trolley Tracks - May 17-18, 2009
The first two photos were taken in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, May 17, 2009.
There was once an interurban line which ran from Paterson, NJ to Suffern, NY
parallelling the Erie mainline. This line was abandoned in 1929, but on the east side
of Ho-Ho-Kus, on Franklin Turnpike, these tracks serve as a reminder. Back in the 1970's,
the sidewalk was original and vintage, but the kind folks from this town re-paved it
since then, and kept them visibly in place.
The remainder of these photos were taken on May 18, 2009 in Ridgewood (Queens), NY.
Below the Myrtle Ave El, just north of Wyckoff & Myrtle, are several reminders
of the trolley line which ran along the private right-of-way under the tracks.
These remnants remain only along the street crossings, as far north as just
two blocks from Fresh Pond Road, just about every block has some traces.
The PRW which is not intersecting a street has been paved over for parking,
and there seem to be no traces of rail left in these portions.
