Western Rail - Various locations - April, 1991 (+2 later)

The Santa Fe depot in Santa Fe, NM, was in disuse since the AT&SF discontinued branch-line
service to here. In this photo it looks a bit forlorn, but in 1992 the Santa Fe Southern
re-established excursion service to Lamy, and New Mexico's Rail Runner service to
Albuquerque & Belen now also share this station since 2008.

The Black Mesa & Lake Powell line in April, 1991, as seen from US 160 heading from
"Four Corners" to Flagstaff, AZ, in the vicinity of Cow Springs, AZ.
This line has no physical connection with any other rail line,
was built in the early 70's and runs entirely over Navajo land for 78 miles.
The line is completely electrified at 50,000 volts, and carries coal only.
Here, GE E60 #6004 (mid-70's vintage), leads a run through the desert.
