Expanded Zen Room / meditation space

available for guest use
Located in Asheville, North Carolina

In addition to a guest room built in 2002, I have added a meditation retreat space (Zen Room / zendo). This room includes a twin size bed, for one person to make overnight stays. A second person can use the cushion area the same way, or we can provide a queen size mattress and linens on the center floor area. For information on the main guest room, follow the link for viewoftheblue.com by clicking on the "HOME" button at the bottom of this page.
There has been a small Zen room here for the past 8 years, but the original room was just a tiny 7 1/2 x 8 feet (60 square feet). By tearing off and raising part of the rear roof of the house, building over lower-floor space and connecting the structure to the adjacent garage/guest room building, it is now 15 1/2 by 17 feet (approx. 250 square feet).
The perimeter area at the rear and right side of the room are raised above the floor level as in traditional Zen centers and temples. It will be available for day use when I'm home, as well as perhaps an extended stay. Optional instruction available, as well as services, discussion, etc., by myself, a long-time practitioner and ordained in both the Christian & Buddhist traditions.
2 - 3 meditation spaces available, the room can accomodate up to six people, if some bring their own cushions. This space is also freely available for guests of the main guest room. A good sized library of related texts is available in the room.
